Consultation event on access to transport

The Department for Transport is holding an event at the QEF mobility centre on 2nd November to get your views on transport for disabled people.

The consultation sessions take place at QEF Mobility Services, 1 Metcalfe Avenue, Carshalton, Surrey, SM5 4AW. Sessions take place from 10.30am to 1.00pm or 2.00pm to 4.30pm. For booking arrangements see the attached advert.

The Government is currently consulting on its draft Transport Accessibility Action Plan which aims to ensure that people with physical and hidden disabilities have the same access to transport, and opportunities to travel, as everyone else. The plan can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/draft-transport-accessibility-action-plan and includes almost 50 different actions, including proposals for increasing the availability of accessible toilets on trains, improving the availability of parking for blue badge holders, and introducing a legal requirement for audio-visual announcements on buses.

To help further develop its proposals, the Department for Transport is asking people to tell them their views and experiences, so that they can be reflected in the final plan. The deadline for written responses is the 15thNovember 2017.
