Outcomes
Everything we do at Sutton Mencap is aimed at achieving the following four outcomes:
- People with a learning disability and their families have stronger social connections and are more able to participate in community life.
- People with a learning disability have improved skills, greater confidence and are more able to exercise choice and control over their lives.
- Parents and carers of people with a learning disability feel more supported and less isolated.
- People with a learning disability and their families feel supported and valued as part of the local community
Quality
Sutton Mencap has a rigorous quality assurance scheme aimed at ensuring services are as good as they can be. This scheme covers five areas:
-
- Putting People First: how people with a learning disability are at the heart of everything we do.
- Staff and management: how we recruit, train, support and retain a skilled and motivated staff team.
- The way we work: how we plan and deliver our activities.
- The way we are run: how trustees and managers ensure we maintain the highest standards.
- Our place within the wider society: how we recognise and celebrate our role as a local charity, focussed on delivering public benefit.
Our commitments
We believe that adults and children with a learning disability or autism should be able to lead fulfilling lives and achieve their aspirations and potential.
We support the Royal Mencap Society’s goal of making the UK the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to lead happy and healthy lives.
We are also committed to the principles of the Learning Disability Charter in Sutton. The attached document demonstrates our commitment to the Charter.
