Treat Me Well campaign

It’s national Learning Disability Week and this year’s campaign is all about healthcare.

Treat Me Well is Mencap’s campaign to transform how the NHS treats people with a learning disability in hospital.

1,200 people with a learning disability die avoidably in the NHS every year. Treat Me Well is all about making simple adjustments to care: better communication, clearer information and more time.

There are lots of ways you can support the campaign, including signing a petition calling for more training for healthcare staff. Also if you work in the NHS, why not sign up to become a Treat Me Well champion. To find out more visit https://www.mencap.org.uk/get-involved/learning-disability-week-2018.

As part of the campaign, service users from Sutton Mencap will be joining colleagues from the Learning Disability Team, Royal Mencap and Speak Up Sutton at St Helier hospital on Tuesday to raise awareness of this important issue.
